Aftermarket Business World Study Shows Influence of Economy and Gas Prices on Vehicle Spending

PRLog (Press Release)– Jun 16, 2011– The Advanstar Automotive Group, a leading provider of integrated media solutions to the automotive aftermarket and collision repair industry, has released the results of the Aftermarket Business World Consumer Attitude Study. The study shows that gas prices and economic stability are guiding how much consumers drive and spend on their cars. The complete results of the 15th annual study are published in the magazine's June 2011 issue.

"Although the recession has subsided, consumers are still feeling the effects of less discretional spending money and fewer jobs, and the public is proceeding with caution," commented Krista McNamara, managing editor, Aftermarket Business World, about the latest survey results.

Sixty percent of those surveyed reported that the economy has made it more likely that they will keep their present vehicle, while almost one-fourth are looking to find a more economical vehicle to drive. When it comes to new car sales, 75 percent said they have no plans to buy or lease a vehicle this year.  But of those who are looking, the majority are seeking a conventional combustion engine with 6 or more cylinders, rather than a hybrid, multi-fuel or 4-cylinder conventional combustion engine, despite rising gas costs.

"Respondents are holding steady on their miles driven, with just under half reporting that if there are no big upward swings in gas prices, they will continue to drive the same amount of miles," said McNamara. "But with the national gas price average currently hovering near $4 or more per gallon that's the tipping point where 37 percent of consumers report they will begin to reduce their miles driven."

Consumer respondents to the study were almost equally split in gender. Most commonly ranging in age between 35 and 64, less than one-fourth of those surveyed either fell below the age of 25 or above 65 years old, according to the results. The Southeast was audi the most represented geographical region, with 32 percent of respondents, follow corsa ed by the Midwest and Southwest.

The majority of respondents' incomes fell either between 1086274749  $30,000 and $39,999 or between $90,000 and $99,999.

The 'Red Tape Challenge' was launched in April 2011 with the aim of engaging with different industries to gather feedback on current UK legislation, to help simplify the regulatory landscape for businesses.

This story might have kicked in better if the "Twilight thing" wouldn't burn the subject to the dead. That is something to wonder, how the author of the Twilight ever got away borrowing? so direct storyline, in addition items like mind reading and shape shifters/werewolves in context of vampires from Sookie Stackhouse novels by C. Harris, a book which was also published before first Twilight. Apparently one cannot copyright an idea, only product. But wait, the publisher of L.J Smith has announced a new book to the Vampire diaries series called "Midnight" acura . There is no "Sun" in it, but is this the finger or what?

Anyway, I am myself a Twilight fan; I'm not entirely sure why. Perhaps it has something to do with the "forbidden love." I was very skeptical of this series at first; I thought it was a Twilight knock-off. Actually, the story has more depth and, 1086274749  in terms of quality, the actors are better. Nina and Paul have great chemistry (Rob and Kristen's chemistry has been edited out of all their scenes. The raw footage is much better).

Teenagers ‘Clean Up’ in Manufacturing at the McBride ‘Make It’ Enterprising Challenge

PRLog (Press Release)– Jun 03, 2011– Schools from across Greater Manchester and Salford will show Senior Managers from McBride – a global manufacturer based in Middleton - that they have what it takes to succeed in today's modern manufacturing industry when they take part in the one-day Make It with McBride Enterprising Challenge at the Mercure owned Norton Grange Hotel & Spa in Rochdale on Tuesday 07 June 2011.

In a specially designed exercise, teams of 13 and 14 year old boys and girls from aston martin 10 local schools will compete to – like McBride - design, create, finance and sell a multi-purpose cleaning product.  Working in their own mini-manufacturing companies the pupils will select individual job roles before working their way through a series of tasks to develop their ideas and help create a marketing campaign to promote their companies.

At the end of the day each team is required to present their product to a panel of senior managers from McBride in a 'Dragon's Den' style presentation with one school being declared the 'contract winners' and going through to the Make It auto part Grand Regional Final which will be held in 2012.

This free event is part of The Manufacturing Institute's 'Make It in Manufacturing' campaign (www.makeit.org.uk) which is designed to attract talented young people into the North West manufacturing sector and to promote the industry as one which has a wide range of opportunities for the workforce of tomorrow.
